brought their ships to land, they forsook all, and followed him.

PROMISE-ROM. vi. 22.

Now, being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.

A Leper, for Cleansing.

The Lord taketh pleasure in them that fear him,-in those that hope in his mercy.-Ps. cxlvii. 11.

MARK i. 40.

And there came a leper to him, beseeching him, and kneeling down to him, and saying unto him,

PRAYER.

IF thou wilt, thou canst make me clean,

ANSWER-v. 41, 42.

And Jesus, moved with compassion, put forth his hand, and touched him, and saith unto him, I will; be thou clean. And as soon as he had spoken, immediately the leprosy departed from him, and he was cleansed.

PROMISE-MATT. xviii. 11, 14.

The Son of man is come to save that which was lost. Even so it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish.

The Centurion, concerning his Servant.

I will also give thee for a light to the Gentiles,

That thou mayest be my salvation unto the end of the earth.— Isa. xlix. 6.

LUKE vii. 2.

A certain centurion's servant, who was dear unto him, was sick, and ready to die. And when he heard of Jesus, he sent unto him the elders of the Jews, beseeching him that he would come and heal his servant. And when they came to Jesus, they besought him instantly, saying, that he was worthy for whom he should do this: for he loveth our nation, and he hath built us a synagogue. Then Jesus went with them. And when he was now not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to him, saying unto him,

PRAYER-v. 6.

LORD, trouble not thyself; for I am not worthy that

thou shouldest enter under my roof: wherefore neither thought I myself worthy to come unto thee: but say in a word, and my servant shall be healed. For I also am a man set under authority, having under me soldiers; and I say unto one, Go, and he goeth: and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.

ANSWER-v. 9, 10.

When Jesus heard these things, he marvelled at him, and turned him about, and said unto the people that followed him, I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel. And they that were sent, returning to the house, found the servant whole that had been sick.

PROMISE-JOHN xiv. 12.

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

The Disciples, in the Storm

A man shall be as an hiding-place from the wind,—and a covert from the tempest;

As rivers of water in a dry place ;-as the shadow of a great rock in a weary land.-Isa. xxxii. 2.

MATT. viii. 24.

Behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep. And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying,

PRAYER-v. 25.

LORD, save us: we perish.

ANSWER-v. 26.

And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.

PROMISE-LUKE xii. 6, 7.

Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God? But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore ye are of more value than many sparrows.

Jairus, for his Daughter.

It is good that a man shonld both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the Lord.-Lam. iii. 26.

MARK V. 22.

Behold, there cometh one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name; and when he saw him, he fell at his feet, and besought him greatly, saying,

Y little daughter lieth at the point of death: I pray thee, come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be healed; and she shall live.

ANSWER-v. 24, 35, 41, 42.

And Jesus went with him; and . . . there came from the ruler of the synagogue's house certain which said, Thy daughter is dead: why troublest thou the Master any further? As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe. And he suffered no man to follow him, save Peter, and James, and John the brother of James. And he cometh to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, . . . . and he took the damsel by the hand, and said unto her, Talitha cumi; which is, being interpreted, Damsel, I say unto thee, arise. And straightway the damsel arose, and walked; for she was of the age of twelve years. And they were astonished with a great astonishment.

PROMISE-JOHN xiv. 13, 14.

Whatsoever ye

shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask anything in my name, I will do it.

Two Blind Men, for Sight.

Turn you to the strong hold, ye prisoners of hope.-Zech. ix. 12.

MATT. ix. 27.

When Jesus departed thence, two blind men followed him, crying, and saying,

And when he was come into the house, the blind men came to him and Jesus saith unto them, Believe ye that I am able to do this? They said unto him, Yea, Lord. Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you. And their eyes were opened and Jesus straitly charged them, saying, See that no man know it.

PROMISE-ACTS x. 43.

To him give all the prophets witness, that, through his name, whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.

Peter, when he walked on the Water.

Say to them that are of a fearful heart,-Be strong, fear not.— Isa. xxxv. 4.
